MSAgent 2 provided limited capabilities on Windows 7 and early Windows 10. But now the installer reports invalid certificate on Windows 10. I found Double Agent, a seemingly complete replacement for Agent 2.0, and it works just great on Windows 10 as well as earlier versions of Windows.



Check to see if the control panel is again supported and if so unlock that on the Agent & Voice tab. Also check the pronunciation support (unlikelysince that depended on the old L&H TrueVoice engine which is no longer supported by SAPI).

Fix Agent Properties... button in ACP Preferences. Replace MSAgent 2.0 with Double Agent which is compatible with Windows 10.

The installer must be changed to install Double Agent for 32-bit only or the 32/64 bit version as appropriate, and to remove all references to the original MS Agent V2 stuff. Just use Double Agent and be dine with it.

Turns out the Agent Properties button was being inhibited by the failure of the SAPI control (for pronunciation) failing. That pronunciation support is long since dead, so I removed the SAPI control and all references to it, along with the pronunciation button in Preferences. Now the Properties button works with the real Agent 2 on Windows 87 as well as Double Agent on Windows 7/10.
