See this Comm Center thread by Mark Williams (and specifically this post from him). In the Scripting Guide, pepper all over the place a note about using the 32-bit CMD shell and/or 32-bit cscript when running on a 64-bit system. Same with anywhere Office/VBA is mentioned, must be running 32-bit Office tools, also mention the availability of nicer 32-bit shells such as TakeCommand/TCC.
