See this Comm Center thread by Eric Dose. if the chosen guide star fades during exposure setup such that it is not detected by PinPoint, it is possible that a new star will be chosen too close to the edge of the chip or no star will be available. Limit the amount the star can move when looking for after the initial choice, and fail guiding nicely if it is gone (causing another star to be chosen).
